Spring Arbor University has replaced its student-run Christian AC programming on WJKN-FM and its network of translators with content from Strong Tower Radio. The university successfully relocated its own student-run broadcasts to 106.9 Home-FM WSAE.
Why it matters
This shift changes the radio landscape for families who rely on specific programming for educational or devotional use at home. Understanding where these stations have moved ensures you can continue accessing your preferred content across the region.
The transition affects WJKN-FM at 89.3 and its translators in Battle Creek, Coldwater, Chelsea, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Galesburg, and Dexter/Ann Arbor. Strong Tower Radio now utilizes these frequencies as part of its 20-signal network.
The players
Spring Arbor University
A private Christian university in Michigan that manages student-run media and academic programming.
Strong Tower Radio
A Christian preaching network that operates over 20 radio signals throughout Michigan and Illinois.
The details
Spring Arbor University transitioned WJKN-FM and its associated translators to the West Central Michigan Media Ministries Christian Preaching network. Simultaneously, the university migrated its student-run Christian AC programming to 106.9 Home-FM WSAE. This change involved clearing out the previous mix of Christian and secular pop and alternative music previously aired on WSAE to make room for the student content.

The Home Front
This transition aligns with the broader trend of network expansion and consolidation within the Midwest Christian radio sector. Such shifts often reflect a larger strategy by regional ministries to centralize their preaching and programming reach.
If your household relies on WJKN-FM for daily inspiration or homeschooling resources, you should now save 106.9 Home-FM WSAE to your car and kitchen radio presets. Confirm your specific location's reception of the new signal, especially if you live in the Battle Creek or Lansing areas.
The takeaway
Radio programming shifts can disrupt established daily routines in the household. Check your local station's current schedule or website to ensure you are following the correct frequency for your family's preferred programming.
