EquityProtect agreed to make its property-fraud protection platform available to California Association of REALTORS® members through Real Estate Business Services, LLC, the association's for-profit subsidiary. The announcement was made November 4, 2026, and covers the C.A.R. Partner Program for nearly 190,000 REALTORS®, REALTOR®-Associates and affiliate members.

Why it matters

Property title fraud can quietly transfer or encumber a homeowner's equity, so a monitoring tool offered through a large agent network gives California households another way to watch their property records. The program is designed to help REALTORS® extend client relationships beyond the closing table, which changes how agents may support sellers and owners after a sale.

The C.A.R. Partner Program offers restoration protection of up to $1 million per property, subject to program and policy terms. The agreement reaches nearly 190,000 REALTORS®, REALTOR®-Associates and affiliate members across California.

The players

EquityProtect

A property-fraud protection platform company that won a 2025 Inman Best of Proptech Award.

California Association of REALTORS®

The trade association representing nearly 190,000 REALTORS®, REALTOR®-Associates and affiliate members in California, headquartered in Sacramento.

Real Estate Business Services, LLC

The for-profit subsidiary of the California Association of REALTORS® that entered the agreement with EquityProtect.

The details

Members can bring existing client properties into the platform, where they can evaluate parcel-level risk and equity indicators and see protection and monitoring status. The program includes education and property risk intelligence, enhanced monitoring, owner-controlled protection, and restoration protection. The owner-controlled protection component requires the lawful property owner's approval before a protected sale, refinance or other authorized transaction proceeds. EquityProtect is not title insurance and is not intended to replace title insurance.

Timeline

  1. November 4, 2026: EquityProtect and Real Estate Business Services, LLC announced the agreement.

  2. 2025: EquityProtect received an Inman Best of Proptech Award.

The Home Front

The program is positioned as a monitoring layer that sits beside title insurance rather than replacing it. Title insurance remains the coverage a buyer or owner would look to for title defects, while this platform focuses on watching property records and equity indicators.

If you work with a REALTOR® in California, ask whether they offer access to property-monitoring tools as part of their client services. Keep a copy of your deed and title documents on file so you can check ownership records against any alerts you receive.

The takeaway

Monitoring your property records and keeping your ownership documents organized is a practical step regardless of which tools you use. EquityProtect is not title insurance, so confirm your coverage with a licensed agent or insurer before relying on any monitoring service.
