Mattel will release a limited-edition die-cast 1969 Chevy Camaro model on October 9, 2026. This adult collectible features a specialized metallic-blue finish and a premium acrylic display case.
Why it matters
This release expands the Matchbox adult collectible line, offering enthusiasts a high-detail version of the classic vehicle. The model is designed specifically for display, reflecting a focus on precision hobbyist craft rather than standard play-grade toys.
The 1:64 scale replica arrives with a ZAMAC body, base, and two-piece True Grip wheels. It will retail for $25 on the official company storefront.
The players
Mattel
A global toy manufacturer known for its long-standing Matchbox and Hot Wheels die-cast vehicle brands.
The details
The model features a distressed metallic-blue paint job to emphasize the classic aesthetic of the 1969 Camaro. Engineers designed the unit with two-piece wheels and tires for improved detail, and the car is housed within an acrylic window case to protect the finish for collectors. Purchase is subject to availability and the completion of the checkout process on the manufacturer's website.
Timeline
The die-cast toy model launches on October 9, 2026.
The Home Front
This release follows the trend of the Matchbox Collectors series by shifting production resources toward limited-run, high-detail replicas for adult fans. It signals an increasing priority on items designed for permanent home display rather than disposable play.
If you plan to add this model to your home display, prepare to visit the website on October 9 to secure your unit. Collectors should ensure their display cases are prepped for a 1:64 scale addition to avoid cluttering existing shelving.
The takeaway
This premium release targets hobbyists who prioritize unique finishes and high-end display materials. Keep the release date of October 9, 2026, marked if you intend to purchase, as these limited-edition adult collectibles often sell out based on checkout speed.
